CircularCORE

Circular systems practices to address critical issues of climate change, rampant urbanization, loss of habitats, and resource limits.

Our aim is to expound on and activate the practice of Circular Systems for the good of our urban environment and denizens within; and to drive highly efficient, low-waste, community & ecologically friendly solutions for future economic resilience in cities

The world faces urgent challenges: climate change, rapid urbanization, loss of natural habitats, and the limits of finite resources. Addressing these interconnected issues requires a fundamental shift in how development, business, and sustainability are approached.

Our Response

Consulus introduced CircularCORE in August 2024, a framework designed to integrate and streamline circular systems practices by building upon the methods of PlaceCORE, ImpactCORE, AgriCORE, and Future Resilience by Design.

CircularCORE moves beyond conventional sustainability efforts like carbon accounting or regenerative agriculture.

It addresses how circular systems impact economies, environments, and supply chains holistically. The goal is to create “profit with less destruction” by reducing waste, promoting upcycling, minimizing pollution, and improving productivity through efficient resource reuse. CircularCORE focuses on embedding circularity into every aspect of development, moving past traditional sustainable practices into a fully regenerative model.

At its core, CircularCORE identifies four key dimensions that define circular cities and businesses:

Policy

Establish a circular systems industry through governmental and regulatory frameworks.

Ecosystem

Build an ecosystem that promotes education, research, and the application of circular practices.

Economic Drivers

Create incentives that make circular practices and businesses economically viable and attractive.

Implementation

Provide diverse and successful case studies to demonstrate the effectiveness of circular systems in action.

Our Approach

Systems thinking

At Consulus, we employ systems thinking to enable businesses, communities, and developments to become more circular and resilient. By connecting industries and businesses, we unlock complementary opportunities that make circularity practical and profitable. Our approach goes beyond focusing on resources alone. We address the relationships between people, communities, and nature, often overlooked in traditional models like the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s Circular Economy diagram.

Human element

CircularCORE adds the missing human element to these systems, bridging the gap between nature and the economy. Leveraging tools from PlaceCORE, ImpactCORE, AgriCORE, and Future Resilience by Design, we drive solutions that create circular systems across urban and rural development.

Operational reality

CircularCORE is designed to reshape industries and societies, ensuring that circularity is not just a theoretical concept but an operational reality that benefits people, the planet, and businesses.
