Business leaders convene to discuss new ideas at Shape the World Conference Myanmar

Yangon (08/01/2013) – Private and public sector leaders from the country will convene at the Shape the World Conference in Myanmar on 8 January 2013 to discuss new ideas and review challenges facing Myanmar brands as the country continues to open up rapidly. This is the first time the premier regional conference will take place in Myanmar and is expected to attract up to 200 business leaders.

With Europe in turmoil and a US economy still struggling to find its feet, Asian economies now play a bigger role in driving sustainable growth globally. However, while Asia is expected to serve as a growing market for consumer products, few Asian brands are near the top league of brands. To lead the future, Myanmar companies must catch up in terms of creating intellectual property, developing unique business models and designing new experiences.

Presented by dynamic speakers from Singapore, the conference is aimed at provoking leaders in Myanmar to be ambitious and think creatively. Mr. Lawrence Chong, CEO of Consulus and President of Design Business Chamber Singapore has spoken extensively in the region, most recently at the World Brand Congress in Mumbai and the World Marketing Summit in Bangladesh. Ms. Christina Tarigan, Senior Strategy Consultant has trained and inspired leaders and management staff in Vietnam and Brunei.

“Myanmar is at the start of an incredible journey, so I really hope fellow Myanmar leaders will dare to be ambitious and quickly bring innovation into their business models so that they will not be overwhelmed by foreign firms,” Lawrence Chong, CEO at Consulus, said.

Organised by B2B Management Magazine, the Shape the World Conference 2013 will explore the following issues:

  • Trends and challenges affecting the rise of Asian brands and Myanmar brands;
  • The development of a new generation of Asian leaders.
  • Organisational strategies to enable collaboration and innovation.
  • The role of the public sector in nurturing the growth of Asian brands.
  • Fresh strategic perspectives derived from an integrated business and design approach.

After the speaker presentations and panel discussions, interactive workshops or Brand Labs will be held in the afternoon:

Brand Lab 1: Innovation Strategy – Learn to identify the unique strengths of your organisations so as to rethink  business models and begin to shape the future through innovation.

Brand Lab 2: Brand Experience Strategy – Learn how a Hollywood-inspired approach in terms of redesigning your brand experience from the environment to customer service can generate more love and customers for your brand.

Leaders from government, business and non-profit sectors, including senior management from multinational corporations and small and medium enterprises from Myanmar, are expected to attend.
